This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and young people and expect staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all students. We endeavour to promote a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. Our aim is to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors.

All adults working in the school are aware of their duty to protect children from harm and abuse, promote their welfare and be alert to indications that any child may be at risk of harm or abuse. They are aware that this could happen to any child and that any concerns they have need to be referred on immediately to a member of the school's Safeguarding Team.

Prior to employment all staff (paid or voluntary) at the school are checked against the government's Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for their suitability to work with children and young people. We also check proof of qualifications and employment history references. All interview panels include staff qualified in 'safer recruitment' and include elements to further test candidates’ suitability to work with children.

Safeguarding is an important part of our staff induction process and all our staff complete annual Safeguarding training and refresher training throughout the year. This training ensures that they have the knowledge and the skills to carry out their safeguarding responsibilities effectively.
