This week Year 7 have had great fun down at Blackland's F

The students took on 3 different team building activities throughout the day. The various activities consisted of abseiling, Jacob's Ladder, the crate challenge and gladiator. Year 7 had a wonderful time and it was a lovely bonding opportunity for all.
Some of the highlights from Wednesday were:-
Eloise A, SJA - was the first to make it to the top of the Jacob's Ladder. It was a tricky climb but she showed fantastic determination.
Lucy W, SJA - managed to complete the gladiator using only one arm!
Cameron S, ASO - took on the challenge of abseiling despite a fear of heights and was amazing!
Noah A, ASO - overcame his fear and gave gladiator a go despite feeling unsure.
Emily D, MLG - displayed an outstanding level of perseverance when trying to overcome her fear of heights.
Molly M, MLG - was fantastic at all activities but stood out for her kindness, cheering and supporting others as they took on a challenge.
I will share the success from Thursday and Friday in next week's newsletter.

This week, our Year 7 students have successfully completed their CAT4 assessments. They approached the tests with maturity, focus and a positive attitude, demonstrating their commitment to making a strong start to secondary school.
CAT4 assessments provide valuable information about students’ learning strengths and help us to understand how we can best support and challenge each individual as they progress through Oakwood.
Well done year 7!

Next week we have our Blackland’s farm trips. Please refer to letters that have been previously sent about timings of the days as well as what the students require to bring for the day. I am very much looking forward to spending quality time with the Year group!

Over the last week Year 7 have been learning about the values that underpin everything we do at Oakwood.
We will be continuing to explore these through assemblies, tutor time, and lessons, helping students understand how these values apply to them during school and their daily lives. It is safe to say that Year 7 have understood our school values as they are demonstrating them across the school.
Please see below a pie chart that shows the year group's achievement points that have been awarded in just their first week!
Overall, the year group have been awarded 4368 achievement points which is outstanding! Well done year 7 and keep up the good work!
