Our Reponsibilities

The Governing Body is made up of volunteers from the local community, parents of children at the school and teachers. We work closely with the Headteacher and his colleagues to help raise the standards and performance of the students. Our main role is to look beyond the day-to-day running of the school, setting targets for achievement and acting as a critical friend both supporting and challenging the Headteacher and his senior leadership group. In practice we are actively involved in almost all areas of school life and have a number of sub committees that specialise in particular areas of interest.  The Governing body responsibility and pecuniary interest tables offer more information on our governors.

Emma jukes
Mrs Emma Jukes
Vice-Chair of Governors
Parent Governor

I have lived in Horley with my husband, Martin, since 1998, and we have 2 sons, one of whom is currently in Year 9.  Having graduated in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Geography from Reading University, I moved into HR for 10 years, becoming (and remaining) a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). I then spent the next 13 years working in Supply Chain, working on projects such as delivering all the permanent lighting for London 2012 and then moving in 2007 to my current employer, Microsoft, initially in the supply chain team in consumer (so Xboxes and Surface devices) but now work as the Senior Business Operations Manager for the consumer part of the business.  Day to day I am responsible for compliance, contracts, performance & communications and I am a certified Change Management Practitioner, so well used to how to plan for and successful implement change in organisations.  I am officially based in Reading, which is a bit of a drive, but we have been working from home (like many people) since February and will remain to do so for the foreseeable future.

I have spent the last 4 ½ years volunteering as a Trustee and the Group Secretary to our one of our local Scouting groups as I feel it is important, however busy we are, to give something back to the local community and give children the opportunity to be involved in activities that support their development and well-being.
